East Greenwich Pleasaunce is an award winning Green Flag public park with a playground, table tennis and community centre located in south east London.
With a formal, tree lined garden, Greenwich Pleasaunce also houses a naval cemetery – a window on the area’s maritime history. When the graveyard at the Royal Hospital Greenwich became full in the 1840s, the Royal Navy bought an orchard in east Greenwich for use as the new cemetery, The remains of 3000 naval pensioners were moved to this new site and shortly after the Metropolitan Borough of Greenwich acquired the land in 1926 it opened as a public park.
Pistachios in the Park is housed in an award winning eco-friendly building which was named Green Building Winner in the New Shopper’s Green Guardian awards 2008. Our café features thermally-efficient building blocks, a grass roof, solar panels to power underfloor heating and metal trellising as cladding for climbing plants to grow up.
We are open seven days a week serving food, drinks, ice cream and much more so come along and enjoy our hidden gem in the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
